Rogan Kersh: ‘You had me at hello’
There, on the local front page Saturday, was Wake Forest's new provost visiting with our esteemed provost emeritus, the self-proclaimed romantic. Befitting a storybook moment, Rogan Kersh ('86) will walk in the footsteps of Edwin G. Wilson ('43), who couldn't stop smiling about Kersh's appointment Friday to his former job as chief academic officer.
Kersh contributed to Wilson's volume of Wake Forest history an essay about his enchantment with the University. He went from “a nerve-wracked high schooler” on campus for Reynolds Scholarship interviews to a young man worthy of Wake Forest. An encounter with the late President James Ralph Scales sealed the deal with what Kersh calls “my version of ‘you had me at hello.’”
In this, our first newsletter highlighting stories our editors recommend, I hope you will read more about Kersh's meeting with President Scales and his impressive background that stretches from Brevard, N.C., to Tokyo and Manhattan, and, at last, home.
